Lavender Matcha Lattes, Sparkly Details & Studio News✨

This summer I discovered my new favorite iced drink — the lavender iced matcha latte. I’ve also tried lavender iced tea lattes, and both are amazing. I’ve always loved lavender, but who would have thought it would pair so perfectly with coffee and matcha? It’s been a fairly mild summer here in the Bay Area, but on warmer days, it’s the most refreshing treat.

Speaking of lavender, I’ve been making the occasional trip to Salt & Straw for their lavender ice cream. Again, you wouldn’t think it would work, but it’s light, subtle, and refreshing — the perfect ending to a summer evening. Whether it’s a date night or just a quiet moment to slow down, it’s one of those small pleasures that makes life feel a little more special.

Another little joy this summer has been visiting CatBird, which just opened in San Francisco. I’ve always loved their petite, sparkly, one-of-a-kind jewelry — each piece feels like it has its own story. Not everything in their collection is cat-themed, but they have some of the most unique, subtle feline-inspired designs I’ve ever seen.

Cats have always been important to me — I’ve said I’ll always have one in my life. I adore my dog, but there’s just something about cats I connect with deeply. Whenever I see jewelry or clothing with a thoughtful, well-designed cat motif, I’m instantly drawn to it. CatBird combines that with the kind of understated elegance and sparkle I love — pieces that feel feminine, unique, and timeless.

It’s the kind of place that sparks creativity the moment you walk in, like Anthropologie on a day when it smells amazing and every detail feels intentional. I leave feeling both energized and calm — and that’s the same feeling I hope my art brings into someone’s home.

In the studio, I’ve been working on larger-scale paintings that still have the texture and movement my collectors love, but this new series also carries more personal symbolism. They’re coming together slowly, with layers building over time, and I’ll be sharing sneak peeks with my VIP Collectors first — you can join that list here if you’d like early access.

This summer has also brought some exciting news:

  • I was selected as a finalist for TENMOIR Gallery’s Forest and Mountain 2025 competition. Nature has always been at the heart of my work, so this recognition means a lot. You can see the full list of artists (and my piece) here.

  • I wrote a guest post for Wild Roof Journal about mentorship, shaking off the “starving artist” myth, and finding more confidence in my art career. You can read it here.

  • One of my paintings was featured in Peaky Thinker Press Issue No. 15, which is always exciting — I love seeing my work spark conversations in new spaces.

On the personal side, I’m still recovering from recent knee surgery, but I just started Pilates on a reformer at Body Bar — something I’ve always wanted to try. I’m already in love with it. The summer’s not over yet, but it’s definitely winding down, and I’m looking forward to getting back to Lake Tahoe, taking my dog swimming, and maybe even trying paddleboarding for the first time.

Every day carries something new — and I’d love to know, what have been your favorite moments of summer so far?
