It’s hard to believe the 4th of July has already passed and we’re halfway through 2025. Time is truly flying—and I’ve been sitting with a lot of reflection, gratitude, and hope as we head into the second half of the year.
This summer has brought some really special moments in my art journey that I’m so excited to share. One of my paintings was accepted into the 2025 PBS KVIE Art Auction—this will be my second year participating, and I’m deeply honored to be included again. The auction will run from September 2 through October 1, with live televised bidding on October 3 and October 5. There’s also a People’s Choice Award happening on September 16, where you can vote for your favorite artwork!
What makes this opportunity even more meaningful is that 100% of the proceeds from all artwork sales go directly to PBS. With public broadcasting facing funding threats this year, supporting PBS through this auction is more important than ever. I grew up watching PBS—it was such a core part of my childhood—so this cause is close to my heart. If you’ve ever considered collecting one of my paintings, this is a beautiful way to do so while supporting something truly valuable and needed.
I’m also currently exhibiting in the Summer Group Exhibition at the JOR Fine Art Gallery in Clayton, CA. The show is titled Whispers of Warmth and runs through July 27. If you’re in the area, it’s a lovely show in a charming gallery with a great group of artists.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been working on several new pieces—especially larger-scale botanical paintings I’ve dreamed about creating for a long time. I’ve been slowly scaling up over the past year, and it’s been such a fulfilling creative shift. There’s more I’ve been working on that I haven’t shared publicly yet, but I’m excited to let you in on it soon. 😊
On a more personal note, I recently had knee surgery. It forced me to slow down in ways I didn’t expect, but it’s also reminded me how much I value creating and connecting. I’ve been leaning into what brings me joy—painting, being outside, gardening, brunching with friends, trying new restaurants, and speaking up for what matters.
There’s so much going on in the world right now, and I truly believe we need to hold on tightly to what brings us peace and joy—and also be willing to stand up for what’s right.
We also need to look out for each other.
The other night, I was walking my dog for her last walk of the day when I saw someone lying on the ground. At first glance, it seemed odd, and my instinct was to turn around and walk the other way. But something made me stop. I turned back and looked again—and this time, I really looked. I realized the person might need of help.
From a distance, I asked if they were okay, and they responded that they were and they just had felt they might pass out. So I walked over and stayed with them. We ended up having a nice conversation while they took a moment to rest, and I stayed until they felt well enough to get up and continue their walk.
That moment stuck with me. It reminded me that sometimes we have to stop, look again, and be willing to offer help—even if it’s uncomfortable. It’s better to pause and care than to walk away. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
What’s been bringing you peace or joy this summer? I’d love to hear what’s been filling your days—leave a comment or send me a note!
